Welcome! I'm a second year physics PhD student at UCL, and located in the brand new London Centre for Nanotechnology, which is very nice to look at from the outside, but I would have rather that the architects gave us some more office/lab space than setting aside a large volume of the building for a spacious bouncing stairway (the spaciousness was supposed to encourage cross-disciplinary discussion and socialising).
My research is on magnetism and multipolar ordering in f-electron systems (that is compounds containing rare-earth or actinide elements), principally using neutron scattering. The main materials that I've looked at are UPd3 (quadrupolar ordered), UCu2P2 (ferromagnetic ordered) and PrB6 (antiferromagnetic ordered).
I'm also an enthusiastic climbing and currently on the comittee of UCL Union Mountaineering Club.
The pages may look a bit rough, as I'm trying to learn CSS, and maybe experiment with some of these Web 2.0 things (the last time I wrote something with javascript was about 10 years ago for a school project and I almost went crazy getting it to work on both IE4 and NN2!). So the site is very much a work in progress...
