Welcome! I'm a second year physics PhD student at UCL, and located in the brand new London Centre for Nanotechnology, which is very nice to look at from the outside, but I would have rather that the architects gave us some more office/lab space than setting aside a large volume of the building for a spacious bouncing stairway (the spaciousness was supposed to encourage cross-disciplinary discussion and socialising).

My research is on magnetism and multipolar ordering in f-electron systems (that is compounds containing rare-earth or actinide elements), principally using neutron scattering. The main materials that I've looked at are UPd₃ (quadrupolar ordered), UCu₂P₂ (ferromagnetic ordered) and PrB₆ (antiferromagnetic ordered).

I'm also an enthusiastic climbing and currently on the comittee of UCL Union Mountaineering Club.

The pages may look a bit rough, as I'm trying to learn CSS, and maybe experiment with some of these Web 2.0 things (the last time I wrote something with javascript was about 10 years ago for a school project and I almost went crazy getting it to work on both IE4 and NN2!). So the site is very much a work in progress...
